MSO opts for new technologies

by Alp ICT

The history of MSO story began over 10 years ago, in 2007. A specialist in timekeeping for sporting events, MSO has chosen to embrace new technologies and constantly evolve. Today, the company offers a global LiveTV solution, a mobile application and a media pool. It carries out 250 mandates a year, both in Switzerland and abroad.

MSO since 2007

2007: In Perrefitte, Roland Muller acquires its first timing system and MSO-Chrono is born. Roland Muller can now count on top-of-the-range "Chronelec" equipment guaranteeing unrivalled reliability in this field.

2009: At the start of the year, MSO times 20 sporting events.

2010: Jérémy Muller joins his father in his expanding business. Together, they turn Roland's side business into a full-fledged service company.

2012: The milestone of 60 sports events timed by MSO is reached.

2014: MSO moves to new premises in Delémont and changes its legal form to MSO Sàrl. The company wins its first two World Cup ski-mountaineering events in Verbier and Les Diablerets.

2015: Sarah Muller joins the company, which now has 3 family members on its board. MSO wins the entire World Cup circuit as well as the World Ski Mountaineering Championships.

2016: The company's international expansion continues thanks to a partnership with the Sky Runner World Series.

2017: MSO implements a global LiveTV solution, production, realization and multi-channel broadcast during the Transjurassienne. The same summer, Timmy, the permanent timing mobile app, sees the light of day.

2020: To provide organizers with a complete service, MSO is opening a media pool, offering support not only on the big day, but also before and after the event.

Today

Today, MSO Sàrl operates from two offices: Delémont and Lausanne.

It carries out 250 assignments a year, both in Switzerland and abroad. To date, thousands of people have taken part in or ridden in races of all sizes and levels organized by MSO.

Offices

MSO's strategic center is in Delémont. It comprises 1500m2 of space for logistics, administrative offices and the printing center. With this building, built to Minergie quality standards and using solar panels and heat pumps, MSO is demonstrating its commitment to reducing energy consumption and working in increasingly environmentally-friendly conditions.

This infrastructure is complemented by a data center consisting of 4 shared physical servers hosted in Sion by SILICOM, and an administrative office in Lausanne, created to develop and strengthen local links with some of MSO's customers.

Vehicles

With equipment capable of timing several thousand participants a day, MSO's 5 Mercedes Sprinter L4 buses are true chrono centers, functional and autonomous even several hours after a power failure. Their timing solutions are state-of-the-art in terms of experience and reliability. For each event, they are accompanied by at least one trailer containing all the additional equipment needed for our intervention to run smoothly.
