Bien-Air Surgery digitalizes its production with the help of ScreeN
A history of innovation
It all begins in Moutier (Switzerland), in a traditional village bistro in the heart of the famous "Watch Valley". During his coffee break, David Mosimann, a precision mechanic and entrepreneur at heart, chatted with a dentist who told him about the limited performance of his rotating instruments. Anxious to improve the dentist's daily work, David Mosimann embarked on the adventure and produced his first handpieces. Little by little, the project grew and, in 1959, the Bien-Air company was born in a garage in Bienne.
Right from the start, Bien-Air made its mark and asserted its expertise in micromechanics. The first turbines produced by the company were reputed to be the most reliable and resistant on the market. Constantly on the lookout for new innovations, the company took a decisive step forward in the 1970s with the launch of its very first electric motors. Renowned for their precision and exceptional performance, Bien-Air instruments were quickly appreciated and adopted by dentists.
The know-how and cutting-edge technologies developed by the company are also proving useful and relevant in the manufacture of other medical instruments, opening the way to new horizons. As a result, Bien-Air decided to diversify into ENT surgery, plastic surgery and neurosurgery. In 2001, the company decided to separate its dental and microsurgical activities, creating the Bien-Air Dental and Bien-Air Surgery divisions. As the product range grew, so did the company's values. Year after year, Bien-Air continues to revolutionize the medical world with innovative, reliable and easy-to-use rotary instruments and systems.
With its headquarters in Bienne, its two production/assembly sites in Le Noirmont (Switzerland) and its eight subsidiaries, Bien-Air today employs over 400 people worldwide. Reliable, innovative products, a high-quality distribution network and first-rate customer service make Bien-Air the specialist par excellence in rotary instruments and medical systems.
Digitizing production
With the aim of simplifying workflows, controlling service rates, ensuring management rules and providing visibility, Bien-Air Surgery embarked on a digitalization project with the help of ScreeN! Now, 3 out of 5 departments are equipped with a large screen showing the list of production orders by priority, as well as tablets installed at workstations. The benefits of the project are: increased autonomy for our staff, reduced throughput times and higher service rates, as well as a better first time.
