Illustrated summary of discussions on responsible cloud

by Alp ICT

On Thursday November 3, we had the great pleasure of moderating an event organized by theInstitut du Numérique Responsable Suisse (INR-CH) and Loyco on the theme of responsible cloud computing, at Ecole 42 Lausanne. On this occasion, we discussed the subject of the cloud in business, and reflected together on possible solutions to optimize the environmental impact of this technology. through various presentations and the sharing of experiences.

The use of the cloud is a trend that's growing stronger all the time. This digital cloud is growing with the deployment of digitalization in our organizations. Compared to dusty files that take up space in our closets, this data is invisible, and we don't even realize it's accumulating. In reality, this data is stored in data centers, which consume a lot of energy and generate a growing need for storage.

During the meeting, we addressed a number of questions relating to this topical issue: How can we become aware of the environmental impact of the cloud? What can we do on a daily basis to optimize our use of the cloud? How can we measure the carbon impact of our use? What can we do to make our cloud responsible?

High-quality speakers shared their experiences to discover more responsible practices: Amael Parreaux-Ey, CEO & Chairman of Resilio, Monica Marinucci, Responsible Customer Sucess Modern Work at Microsoft, and Fabien Zennaro, CEO of VNV SA.
