2 calls for proposals to support the development and deployment of your AI projects
The Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) is launching the third call for projects in the canton of Vaud focused on artificial intelligence and data science, featuring two tracks tailored to companies’ levels of maturity: one to explore an idea and develop a pilot project, and another to implement a more advanced AI project with enhanced financial and technical support.

This program is part of a broader support offering led by the Place IA initiative, which brings together several entry points to assist companies in Vaud based on their level of experience with artificial intelligence, including the AI Cohort, designed for those still looking to identify and structure their first use cases.
6 weeks to turn a business need into a concrete digital project using AI
The call thus distinguishes between two levels of support.
Phase 1 targets companies with beginner- to intermediate-level experience in AI that have identified a concrete idea and have access to data but still lack the technical expertise to implement it. Two hands-on workshops and coaching sessions will first help them solidify their methodology; companies ready to move forward will then receive six months of support to develop a proof of concept (PoC).
Component 2, meanwhile, is aimed at organizations with an intermediate to advanced level of AI maturity that already have usable data, in-house technical expertise, and initial experience with AI. More specifically, the call for proposals will prioritize the collaborative aspect of projects by promoting, among others, academic and industrial consortia or cantonal public administration departments. Support is thus being scaled up, notably with up to CHF 100,000 in funding from the Canton of Vaud to cover payroll costs.
For SMEs in Vaud, the appeal lies precisely in this phased approach: a company can receive support tailored to its level of maturity, whether it is still working to demonstrate the feasibility of a use case or is already ready to transform its data into a deployable AI solution. The program thus helps reduce the technical and financial barriers to experimentation, while providing access to the SDSC’s expertise to develop applications capable of producing a concrete economic or societal impact, particularly in digital transformation, healthcare and biomedicine, energy, sustainability, and social impact projects.
