SCD'17: no Smart City without Smart People!
Alp ICT is once again honored to be a co-organizing partner of Smart City Day (SCD), which this year takes place in Geneva on September 14 under the theme HUMAN SMART CITY.
For its 4th edition, the event will focus on the Citizen at the heart of the City's operations. It is essential toinclude the human element in the ecosystem, in line with the rapid expansion of new technologies.
Every year, the SCD brings together over 200 decision-makers from municipalities and cantons, the public sector, business and academia, who come to meet and learn about the challenges of digitalizing territories and communities. Its success since 2014 has made it the benchmark annual Smart City event in French-speaking Switzerland.
The Human Smart City theme will be explored through economic and employment aspects in the 1st round table, and on the subject of co-creating the city in the 2nd. A participative, cross-disciplinary approach, building collective solutions: the digital revolution must enable greater citizen inclusion. And as every year, a foreign country is in the spotlight: SCD'17 welcomes the Netherlands.
A captivating program has been devised with renowned speakers, including: Mr. Pierre Maudet (Geneva State Councillor), Mr. Christian Brunier (Director SIG), Mr. Oscar Cherbuin (Director ARCAM), Mr. Dirk Van Brederode (Smart City Manager of The Hague), Mr. Pierre Mirlesse (Vice President Hewlett-Packard Europe), Ms. Valérie Bauwens (Strategos), Mr. Pierre Lembert (Losinger Marazzi), Mr. Serge Le Boulch (Recipro-Cité), and many others.
Following a morning of conferences, the afternoon will be dedicated to innovation, with workshops featuring innovative approaches and tools for co-construction of cities and neighborhoods. Our Marketing Officer Yohann Perron will moderate the afternoon and present the three partner platforms - AlpICT, Micronarc and CleantechAlps. The whole event will take place in an atmosphere conducive to exchanges and the development of the smart eco-system, with over twenty professional exhibitors and a "VR Café", a convivial place to try out virtual reality.
One of the highlights of SCD'17 will be feedback on the Smart City Hack carried out this spring in collaboration with Open Geneva. Accompanied by other start-ups, the winning team will present its progress. The Géofab initiative of Greater Geneva, aimed at developing innovative services using cross-border geo-data, will close the day by announcing the winner of its 1st call for projects, and will launch its 2nd call for projects.
Smart City Day 2017 is a MyClimate-certified "zero CO2" event, and features a vegetarian buffet. Registration is available online (CHF 150.-), and access to the event is free from 3:30pm, to encourage calls for innovative projects.
