RestÔbistro, a large-scale operation unique in Switzerland

by Alp ICT

Following the success of Kariyon I and II, the Conseil d'Etat is releasing a 3 million franc budget for the catering sector.

Launched in collaboration with GastroFribourgand the only one of its kind in Switzerland, the restÔbistro operation aims to support an industry that has been suffering since March 2020, with discounts of 15% and 25% respectively.

This initiative, launched in collaboration with GastroFribourg, invites the population of Fribourg to support its restaurants, and in particular to thank young people for their efforts during the pandemic. They will benefit from an additional 10% discount (25% instead of 15%). Nearly 900 establishments in the canton are affected by the measure. Vouchers will be available from October 22, 2021 on the kariyon.ch platform.

Hard hit by successive health constraints, the catering industry is a major economic player in the canton, with sales of 45 million francs a month . The 3 million francs earmarked for this initiative should generate a leverage effect of 12 million francs, without taking into account the so-called induced spin-offs.

15 and 25% discount depending on age:

The operation targets young people in particular, with a 25% discount for 16-25 year-olds. This age group, numbering 42,000 in the canton, deserves recognition for its resilience and responsible attitude during the pandemic.

From the age of 26, customers benefit froma 15% discount on the restaurant of their choice. Vouchers are issued via the kariyon.ch platform, up to a maximum purchase of 700 francs per customer account. The restÔbistro operation will end when the allotted amount has been used up.

The other aim of this measure is to generate quick and easy cash flow for restaurateurs. What's more, as with the previous two measures, the transaction costs are fully covered by the government.

The aim is to encourage the people of Fribourg to return to their pre-Covid-19 habits. Beyond the economic aspect, the establishments play an essential social role, ensuring a link with the population that needs to be reestablished as soon as possible.
