New IT and Communication Systems engineering course in Valais
From 2022, the HES-SO Valais will offer this new curriculum, which complements the Business Computing and Digital Team Academy programs, to train young people in the Valais region in the digitalization of industry, with a specialization in data engineering.
Switzerland will be short of 36,000 computer scientists by 2028, so "this training program, which is eagerly awaited by the economy, is a perfect fit for Valais, which wants to occupy a strong position in the fields of digitalization and Industry 4.0", says Christophe Darbellay, Head of the Department of Economy and Education.
The Valais institution wants to become an active driver of this transformation, to support and accelerate it in this era of digitalization.
Meeting the challenges of a future in which data will play an increasingly important role in both economic and industrial sectors. This is what this new training program will contribute to, through possible collaborations and synergies both within the HES-SO Valais-Wallis and with other establishments.
Trained in Big Data and Artificial Intelligence : the objective for students in Computer Science and Communication Systems is to master the theoretical and practical aspects of managing large volumes of digital data, more commonly referred to as Big Data. They will be able to collect, transport and store data, so as to be able to process it using machine-learning methods, and ultimately add value to it.
Over 6 semesters, the Data Engineering course explores the relationship with data through projects, applied laboratories and courses.
A comprehensive IT training cluster: this new range of courses has been developed in close collaboration with the Business Informatics stream to optimize complementarities, particularly with the new Digital Team Academy. The aim of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis is to offer a complete Valais catalog of Bachelor's courses, enabling students to choose the path that best suits them.
