New Tech division for healthcare gas pedal DayOne

Basel Area Business & Innovation 's DayOne Accelerator program supports promising innovative start-up projects in the healthcare sector, helping them to build their teams and develop the skills and relationships they need to succeed. From 2022, DayOne will be expanding its offering with a new Tech division in the canton of Jura.

At its session on December 15, 2021, the Jura Parliament agreed to support the DayOne Tech program. By 38 votes to 8 (with 5 abstentions), it approved a cantonal subsidy of CHF 1.15 million and a federal subsidy of CHF 1.26 million for the years 2022 to 2025 for this project supported by Basel Area , which will be hosted on the Jura site of the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area.

This will enable DayOne to roll out its new Tech division. The gas pedal will become the technology counterpart to DayOne Healthcare Innovation, the healthcare enabler platform currently bringing together 14 universities and colleges, over 700 companies active in life sciences and digital health, and more than 2,000 specialists in the field.

The canton of Jura is well known as a location for microtechnology companies, and therefore offers the best conditions for start-ups that are advancing healthcare through their innovations. As such, DayOne Tech will aim to leverage the skills of Jura-based companies and bring them closer to research. The program will support theacceleration of technological projects in the fields of medical robotics, virtual reality for healthcare or technologies for personalized medicine, at the crossroads of micromechanics and robotics in the canton of Jura.

Start-ups can apply for the DayOne Accelerator Tech in the first quarter of 2022. Those selected will receive funding of up to CHF 100,000. They will also have access to shared office space, events and the Basel Area Business & Innovation network.
