#interview FinTech Immersion, HEG's new continuing education course

by Alp ICT

The HEG-Fribourg, already known for training entrepreneurial profiles, is co-organizing one of the first Swiss training courses dedicated to fintechs, in partnership with Fintech Circle, Europe's largest network of investors dedicated to fintechs, and London's Level39, Europe's largest technology gas pedal for finance, retail, cyber security and smart cities. Jean-Marie Ayer presents this new training program, for which registrations are open until the end of February.

Alp ICT: FinTech Immersion addresses one of the key issues in innovation: skills development. Can you tell us more about HEG's vision?

Jean-Marie Ayer: HEG wants to build a continuing education program on the digitization of businesses (FinTech, smart cities, smart homes, transport...). It will be a series of courses organized with well-established partners who are experts in each field. It's a highly practical course, delivered by industry specialists with an emphasis on case studies, company examples and best practices on the latest industry trends.

Alp ICT: So FinTech Immersion is the first in a series of continuing education courses. What is the program?

Jean-Marie Ayer: The FinTech Immersion program covers the FinTech ecosystem and segments, including an examination of digital levers such as mobile, cloud & big data, crypto technologies such as blockchain and digital currencies, and their role on global finance.

FinTech Immersion is: 6 days of English-language training, from March to June 2017 for CHF 4,990: 3 days in the classroom at HEG, 3 days in the London Tech scene split between Level39 and the FinTech Innovate / Finance Global Summit 2017, meeting Tech players in the field. Details and online registration.

Alp ICT: What are the main training objectives? What is the expected impact?

Jean-Marie Ayer: The school's positioning is in entrepreneurship and innovation. For us, digitization is an area we need to cover in terms of continuing education.

For participants, the aim is to acquire a practical knowledge that will enable them to tackle the subject within their companies and continue the work in-house. Support can be provided by the experts met during the course.

Finally, the training is part of a wider project: the HEG is currently working with Fintech Circle to set up a Fintech Lab in Fribourg (at the BioFactory).
