IHI Strategic Research & Innovation: calls for projects
The Innovative Health Initiative (IHI), a partnership between the European Union and major industrial players in the medical technology, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, is launching 2 new calls for projects:
- Call n°9 is a one-stage call for applications, with themes aligned with the specific objectives of IHI's strategic research and innovation agenda.
- Call n°10 is a 2-stage call focusing on the digital labeling of medical technologies, the European Health Data Space and PFAS in the healthcare sector.
These calls aim to stimulate innovation and address public health needs, while strengthening the European health research and innovation ecosystem. IHI encourages integrated, interdisciplinary approaches, focusing on prevention, diagnosis, treatment and disease management.
The application deadlines for these two calls for projects are:
- April 29, 2025 for call n°9
- April 23, 2025 for call n°10
Encouraging research and innovation in healthcare through digital technologies
The following topics can be developed by companies:
Call for projects n°9
- Improving understanding of health determinants: developing innovations to better understand the factors influencing health.
- Integrating fragmented health research and innovation efforts: fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to meet public health needs.
- Proposing integrated patient-centered care solutions: demonstrating the feasibility of patient-centered healthcare solutions.
- Harnessing the potential of digitalization and data exchange in healthcare: promoting digital tools to improve healthcare.
- Improving evaluation of the benefits of innovations in integrated care: developing methodologies and models for evaluating innovations.
Call for projects n°10
- Digital label: a single source of information for medical devices - Develop a digital label concept for all types of medical devices.
- Secondary use of health data in the European Health Data Space (EHDS): encouraging innovation while ensuring health data security and compliance.
- Management of perfluoroalkylated substances (PFAS) in the healthcare sector: reducing exposure to PFAS, their emissions and improving their end-of-life management in the medical sector.
