On Tuesday March 19, Professor Giovanna Di Marzo, Director of the Centre Universitaire d'Informatique (CUI) at the University of Geneva, Antonio Hodgers, President of the Canton of Geneva and of the Groupement local de coopération transfrontalière (GLCT) du Grand-Genève, Pierre Fillon, member of the Comité Syndical du Pôle métropolitain du Genevois français, and Pierre Mirlesse, President of the Géofab jury, presented the prizes to the jury of the 4th Géofab call for projects dedicated to the valorization of geodata in the tourism and leisure sectors. Alp ICT is delighted to be one of the members of the Jury, and thanks the organizers for their confidence.
How does Géofab work?
Facilitate the use of French and Swiss "geodata" from Greater Geneva, by selecting and supporting around 15 innovative French and/or Swiss digital projects through 4 calls for projects over 2 years.
This scheme was launched in November 2016 by the two lead partners, the University of Geneva (UNIGE) and the Pôle métropolitain du Genevois français, accompanied by 2 major partners, the Institut National de l'Information Géographique et Forestière (IGN), the Système d'information du territoire à Genève (SITG) for the Canton of Geneva, as well as numerous other technical and institutional partners.
Géofab supports the winning projects in the development of their digital services and the use of geodata. Depending on the quality and assessment of the applications submitted, the winners of the competition will benefit from free access to Franco-Swiss digital geographic data for 2 years, as well as 6 months of expertise days.
Géofab, a Franco-Swiss Interreg project, aims to promote access to digital geographic data for businesses in the Greater Geneva area, as well as innovation and digital development on a cross-border scale.
A wide range of data collected
Throughout the Greater Geneva area, a large amount of digital spatial, cadastral and geographic data accessible in opendata has been collected and structured with scientific rigor by the SITG, Swisstopo and ASIT VD on the Swiss side, and by IGN on the French side.
Awards ceremony for the 4th call for projects
The official launch of the 4th call for projects dedicated to tourism (culture, heritage, gastronomy...) and leisure (sport, gaming, music...) took place on September 26, 2018 at the Franco-Swiss Business Forum in Geneva. Applications were submitted on January 6, 2019.
This theme is at the heart of Greater Geneva's Smart Cities program. Innovations such as connected objects and digitalized services for tourism and leisure will enhance quality of life, increase physical activity and well-being, improve social cohesion, and so on.
