Security and confidentiality

The explosive growth of the Internet of Things has entered people's private lives - homes, cars, gyms, schools. With its ubiquitous nature, the IoT raises many privacy issues. Protecting people's sensitive information has become a major challenge.

Meanwhile, a recent global cyber-attack has affected hundreds of thousands of computers in over 150 countries. The attack dubbed WannaCry brought major companies in Europe to a halt. It virtually hijacked personal computers and demanded a ransom in exchange for the release of their data. The number of reported ransomware attacks continues to grow, and the scale of their impact is unimaginable. This calls for immediate measures and actions on all sides.

At IoT Week 2017, we've dedicated a whole track of sessions to " IoT Security and Privacy " which will address a range of issues of great importance to the success of IoT technology, diving into topics such as:

  • Privacy, data protection and IoT deployment
  • The impact of new data protection regulations (European GDPR, etc.) on the IoT.
  • Emerging trends and technologies in encryption
  • Addressing security, authentication and reliability of constrained devices

By joining IoT Week 2017, you'll discover all the latest IoT developments in many areas of life, including Smart Cities, Smart Transportations, Smart Agriculture, Smart Living & Aging Well, eHealth, Smart Factory and Smart Energy.

The Global IoT Summit (IEEE Approved) will be co-located with IoT Week, and will feature industry sessions and selected scientific papers on the latest IoT innovations from around the world.

Over the four days of the conference, participants will be able to attend first-rate plenary sessions, interesting round tables, numerous workshops and the Hackathon competition. They will also have the chance to visit the IoT Week exhibition area showcasing the latest projects, products and research results.

As the ultimate meeting point for modern IoT decision-makers, IoT Week 2017 is an event not to be missed!
