Python for beginners

In this hands-on workshop organized by the Wagon Lausanne, you'll discover the basics of programming with Python and be quickly immersed in the daily life of a data analyst. You'll also analyze Airbnb data with Python as an example.

In this workshop, you will learn :

• Jupyter notebook basics and basic python skills to start analyzing data with pandas.
• The basics of Pandas and then how to do data visualization.

You will also learn :

• How to use python to analyze large data sets
• Analyze your data faster and more efficiently than with Excel
• Analyzing Airbnb datasets with Python

About this workshop :

This workshop will start with a one-hour lecture to introduce the basic concepts. You will then be taken on board the Wagon's e-learning platform and given access to the slides, a summary of the key notions, as well as exercises to continue practicing after the workshop.

The workshop will be led by Rick, a Data Scientist with a general engineering background from ESTP Paris, who has worked for various accounts of varying sizes in the defense, automotive, materials chemistry and banking sectors. Today, he is a Machine Learning Engineer, working on the implementation of a Datalake and a batch and streaming data pipeline (stack: Python, SQL, Hadoop/Spark, Kafka) within a consulting firm for a client specialized in banking services.
