Joint call 2018 for integrated regional energy systems
ERA-Net Smart Energy Systems (ERA-Net SES)
ERA-Net Smart Energy Systems (SES) is a transnational consortium of 30 national and regional agencies and authorities promoting applied research and innovation in the field of smart energy systems. Created in 2014 (under the name ERA-Net Smart Grids Plus), this network has recently welcomed new partners. Switzerland is represented by Innosuisse and theSwiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE).
Two calls launched in 2015 and 2016 (focusing on smart grids) resulted in three research projects and three pilot and demonstration projects with Swiss participation. The SFOE is co-financing these projects, which are currently underway.
The results of the ERA-Net, as well as those of national and international projects, will be further developed and synthesized within the Knowledge Community.
2018 Joint Call for Integrated Regional Energy Systems (RegSys)
Tomorrow's energy systems will need to be able to guarantee a 100% renewable energy supply at all times. The ERA-Net SES 2018 (RegSys) joint call is therefore broadening its scope from the current focus on power grids to innovative solutions in the field of integrated local and/or regional energy systems. In addition to technical issues and the inclusion of information and communication technologies (ICT), implementation-related aspects (e.g. market, acceptance) are to be investigated. Projects should be based on the identification of needs for a regional or local energy system, and involve the various partners involved in the implementation stage.
To this end, the ERA-Net SES consortium and the European Commission are making available a total of up to €33. 3 million for applied research, pilot and demonstration projects.
Swiss project partners can submit their innovation projects to Innosuisse, and their pilot and demonstration projects to the SFOE. The award and evaluation criteria and processes applied are those of the various funding programs.
