HEG-FR expands its Bachelor's program for the start of the 2020 academic year with a new Digital Business orientation

by Alp ICT

Faced with the rapid evolution of products and innovations in a world impacted by digital transformation, our economy and our companies are looking for professionals with traditional management training and skills in digital technologies. With this in mind, the University of Applied Sciences Fribourg will be opening a new Bachelor's degree program in Business Administration, with a focus on Digital Business, from the start of the 2020 academic year.

Boosting innovation and economic activity

This orientation, which fits in perfectly with the HES-SO's digital strategy, was recently approved by the HES-SO's rectorate. Its aim is to make future employees and entrepreneurs aware of technological challenges - whatever the sector - so that they acquire a global vision of the digital context. The orientation will thus train the leaders of the future in the skills needed to solve complex problems using new technologies in a creative way. Participants will be made aware of the changes and challenges currently facing our economy.

Graduates will be well prepared to cope with the constantly changing job market, and will be able to manage the resources required for a digitalization project. As a result, companies and SMEs will be able to grasp future digital transformations and seize innovative business opportunities.

Practical and employability-oriented

The future Digital Business orientation will enable students to integrate the digitalization of society into their approach to business management. They will be familiar with current trends and concepts, such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, virtual and augmented reality, blockchain, fintech, the circular economy, neuromarketing, and will be invited to reflect on the opportunities arising from changes linked to digitalization.

Students will carry out application projects to learn how to successfully manage, plan and control processes, while taking into consideration elements such as innovation, quality, efficiency and sustainable development in a perspective of change. The Bachelor's thesis, always carried out in collaboration with a company, will be the culmination of the practical application of the skills developed and acquired throughout the course.

Conditions and admissions

Admission requirements are the same as for the Bachelor's degree in Business Economics, either full-time or on the job. Students wishing to follow the Digital Business orientation must register before the start of their final year of study, in accordance with the procedures and timetable defined by the Business Economics program.
