Energy management: self-consumption at the heart of the 2018 edition of Smart Energy Day

by Alp ICT

The national Smart Energy day will be held for the 8thtime on August 31st at the FXB aula in Sion.

Every year since 2011, The Ark Foundation and its partners CleantechAlps, the City of Sion and FMV, have organized a theme day dedicated to innovative energy management.

For this 8th edition, the focus will be on the Netherlands, and more specifically on the way this country manages its (renewable) energies. The issue of self-consumption will be widely discussed and illustrated by numerous examples, from both Swiss and foreign practices. Nearly 200 specialists in the field are expected to attend this benchmark conference!

A dozen Swiss and international speakers will present their views and experiences on the topics of the liberalized Dutch market and self-consumption. Among them, René Kerkmeester, Leader Corporate Digital Transformation at TenneT, will detail the digitalization of energy in the Netherlands. Philip Gladek, CEO of Spectral, a Dutch company developing smart grid solutions for regional networks, will talk about innovative energy projects in the Netherlands.

What are the implications for the liberalization of the electricity market?

The morning will conclude with a round-table discussion on the liberalization of the Swiss electricity market and its implications. A number of leading figures in the field will share their views and arguments on this thorny issue, whose stakes go far beyond the economic interests of energy distributors and producers.

The afternoon will be devoted to the issue of self-consumption. Samuel Pfaffen, Director of Development at Eniwa, will explain the distributor's position on self-consumption. Then it will be the turn of John Farris from UK-based Electron, a company using blockchain technology applied to the energy sector, to ask whether the current system is ready to build the energy architecture of the 21st century.

The event will conclude with a talk by Michael Liebreich, from the international firm Bloomberg New Energy Finance, on the theme of future technical and economic trends in the energy sector.

A day of conferences, but not only...

Smart Energy Day is also an opportunity to talk to over 200 specialists in the field (distributors, producers, engineers...) who will be on hand. There will also be plenty of networking opportunities.

With its international scope, this event is the benchmark for Smart Energy in Switzerland.
