AI Workshop: An Introduction to the BASE Open-Source Framework
BASE is a free and open-source framework developed by the AI Swiss association to integrate your knowledge and expertise with AI using text files you already have. It is an open standard provided with a reference implementation (command-line tools, a graphical interface, and integration with AI applications). This framework was developed to help small and medium-sized enterprises in French-speaking Switzerland structure the integration of artificial intelligence technologies within their organizations.

Digital sovereignty is not limited to servers and data.
As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in businesses’ day-to-day operations, a new question arises: How can companies maintain control over their expertise? Beyond data and infrastructure, digital sovereignty also encompasses work methods, business processes, and the guidelines that govern interactions with AI. When these elements remain scattered across different tools or depend on a specific platform, organizations certainly gain in productivity, but struggle to capitalize on their knowledge.
BASE—the solution developed by AI Swiss in partnership with Innovaud—is designed to address precisely this challenge. Its goal is to enable companies to structure, store, and reuse their business rules and work methods in files they own and can use with any artificial intelligence model, thereby strengthening their autonomy and their ability to evolve their use of AI over time.
