The 3rd edition of the Assises genre/numérique will be held on February 13 and 14, 2025 at EPFL. The "Gender equality and digital transformation" (genre/numérique) project, led by the UNIL Equality Office in partnership with EPFL, HES-SO, HEG-FR and the StrukturELLE association, aims to create synergies between gender equality and digital transformation. This project was initiated to remedy the lack of interaction between these two fields, which limits their impact.
Algorithmic biases in AI & talent retention in tech
For the third and final edition of the Assises genre/numérique, the aim is to continue the work begun in the first two installments, and to present good practices and relevant case studies. Discussions will focus on two main themes:
Algorithmic biases in artificial intelligence: AI plays an increasingly important role in our everyday decisions. However, when its algorithms are based on biased data, they can reproduce gender stereotypes and accentuate existing inequalities. These biases, often invisible behind apparent technological objectivity, require critical analysis to encourage fairer, more inclusive practices.
Education, careers and talent retention in the digital sector: the under-representation of women in the digital sector is a complex issue resulting from a multitude of factors. These include gender stereotypes ingrained from childhood, obstacles encountered during education, as well as the challenges women face throughout their professional careers.
