In recent months, the digitization of the industrial sector has been the subject of numerous articles and events. The term Industry 4.0 has even lost its original meaning, and is now regularly used to define the digitization of the economy in general, beyond that of the industrial production apparatus alone. However, this revolution is often approached solely from the angle of its causes and consequences, notably on business models or the job market.
But how will the "factory of the future" really revolutionize the way we produce? What are the key themes of this digital upheaval? The "Smart Industries" trade show, held in early December in Paris, was the ideal opportunity to discover some of the major verticals that are already shaping tomorrow's industry, both technically and organizationally.
