26 Vaud-based start-ups in the TOP 100 best Swiss start-ups 2022
The TOP 100 Swiss start-ups were unveiled on September 7 in Schlieren (ZH). 26 of these young companies are from the canton of Vaud: 10 of them enter the ranking for the first time, and CREAL, HAYA Therapeutics and Daphne Technology make it into the TOP 10. The canton of Vaud thus retains its position as a breeding ground for promising young technology companies capable of becoming Vaud's next scale-ups and success stories.
The canton of Vaud, a region conducive to the development of technology start-ups
In the space of ten years, the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award has become a benchmark in the Swiss startup ecosystem. To date, the companies that have made it into the ranking have created tens of thousands of highly-skilled jobs and brought hundreds of disruptive technologies to world markets.
The success of Vaud's TOP 100 start-ups is the result of an innovation ecosystem that is among the best in Europe, where talented deeptech innovators find the ideal environment to grow and succeed. "The 43 Vaud-based companies in the Scale Up Vaud program - including SOPHiA GENETICS, Nexthink, Frontiers and Astrocast - and the 14 alumni of the LeadiNNg to Scale Up program, co-organized by Innovaud andIMD, which helps young technology companies move from the start-up to the scale-up phase, bear witness to this," explains Patrick Barbey, Director of Innovaud.
TOP 100, a national panorama of talent, regions and technologies
The TOP 100 also shows that Switzerland is a favorable location for start-ups. And because the young companies in the TOP 100 cannot stay there for more than 5 years, the ranking is also a tool which, each year, reveals the next generation of start-ups. This year, 10 Vaud-based start-ups make their debut in the TOP 100: Kitro, TYXIT, ArcoScreen, Tune Insight, Corintis, SEED Biosciences, Lumendo, Perovskia Solar, Biospectal and Visium.
A diversity of innovation fields, with life sciences and ICT leading the way
In Vaud's TOP 100 2022 ranking, 10 start-ups come from the life sciences (5 from biotech and 5 from medtech), and 6 companies are active in ICT. They are followed by cleantech (4 start-ups), engineering (3 start-ups), foodtech (2 companies) and robotics (1 start-up).
Focus on CREAL, in 5th place. This young company has created a light field technology that decisively improves virtual reality and solves the problem of headaches. The process is about to be launched on the market.
