Towards gender equality in the digital world?
First meeting of the "Gender equality and digital transformation" project
The event, which is free and open to all, will bring together players from the worlds of scientific research and equal opportunity, as well as digital companies, associations and politics.
It will be punctuated by round tables, conferences, working groups and networking events. The results of the discussions will be used to consider possible solutions and their practical implementation in terms of equality and inclusion.
More information on the project
The " Gender Equality and Digital Transformation " project was born out of the observation that these two themes are treated as institutional and societal issues with no points of contact between them, which significantly limits their scope in the short and long term.
By bringing together cross-disciplinary expertise in the fields of equality promotion, digital technology, social sciences and entrepreneurship, the project team aims to lay the foundations for a lasting connection between these issues, both within universities and in their interaction with the community.
Designed to be rolled out over three years, the project's objectives are to:
- establish a state of the art on the mutual effects of digital transformation and gender bias
- encourage innovative approaches using digital technology to promote equality
- explore concrete ways of supporting women's careers in the digital sector
- propose best practice guides in this area.
Several types of activities will be developed (conferences, collaborative workgroups, speed-mentoring, video capsules featuring contributions from specialists in the field, etc.) to meet these objectives and raise the social profile of this theme.
"Gender Equality and Digital Transformation" is the fruit of collaboration between the UNIL Equality Office, the EPFL Equality Office, the HES-SO, the HEG-FR, the dhCenter UNIL-EPFL and the StrukturELLE association. It is supported by Swissuniversities, as part of the P7 project funding program "Diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities in university development (2021-2024)".
