On September 8, 2026, the Neuchâtel Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCI) is hosting a webinar on data protection, specifically focused on the human resources field. Organized in partnership with the legal department of the Vaud Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CVCI) and led by Adrien Lanvin, a lawyer at the CVCI, this half-day training session will help employers and HR managers better understand their obligations regarding data protection and the management of employee information.
Resumes, personal contact information, performance evaluations, compensation, and information exchanged during the employment relationship: Human Resources departments handle a great deal of employee data on a daily basis. In a context marked by the proliferation of digital information and the entry into force of the revised Data Protection Act (nLPD), managing this data poses concrete challenges for employers. The training course will therefore cover the general framework of data protection before examining its application to the various stages of the employment relationship: the hiring phase, personnel file management, the employment relationship itself, and the termination of the contractual relationship. The program will also cover social media and the key changes introduced by the revised Data Protection Act. The theoretical content will be illustrated with practical examples drawn from case law to help participants apply these principles to their daily work.
For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in French-speaking Switzerland, which often lack in-house legal expertise, this training helps them better identify their responsibilities regarding the processing of their employees’ data and ensure their HR practices are compliant. The goal is both to understand regulatory requirements and to gain practical guidance on what information can be collected, used, or retained during the employment relationship, thereby better managing the risks of non-compliance.
