Decentralized Finance: How Can AI and Web3 Reach the Unreached?
On October 1, 2026, the Crypto Valley Association and Doctors Without Borders (MSF) will host an event in Geneva focused on the applications of artificial intelligence, Web3, and decentralized technologies in healthcare and humanitarian aid.
AI, Web3, and Humanitarian Aid: When Decentralized Technologies Meet the Reality on the Ground
The goal of this meeting will be, in particular, to examine the situations in which decentralized AI, health data, blockchain, and Web3 can truly help meet the needs of humanitarian organizations, as well as to identify their limitations.
These discussions will thus provide an opportunity to compare the possibilities offered by these technologies with the very concrete needs of the health and humanitarian sectors. Lai Ling Lee Rodriguez, Deputy Director of External Affairs and Field Operations at Doctors Without Borders, will focus in particular on the realities of field operations and the funding challenges facing the humanitarian response, in conversation with Stéphanie Fuchs, Co-Chair of the Crypto Valley Association’s Sustainability Working Group.
The topic of solutions that can actually be implemented will then be discussed with Matthias Chardon, Finance Director at Doctors Without Borders Switzerland; Pablo Castillo, CEO of Chain4Travel; and Alvaro Cosi, Communications & Fundraising at UNHCR, exploring the intersection of technology, funding, and communication.
Christopher Fabian, Digital Inclusion Lead at UNICEF, will share his perspective on the potential of innovation and digital infrastructure in addressing major global challenges, before discussing with Sitara Jabeen, Philanthropy Diversification Lead at Doctors Without Borders Switzerland, the conditions needed to transform technological possibilities into solutions that are truly adapted to the realities of humanitarian action.
