3 days to understand AI, its many applications, and its cross-cutting challenges

AMLD 2026 offers a packed program centered around high-level conferences and practical workshops covering the entire AI value chain: from infrastructure to business, including societal, regulatory, and operational issues.

The event will open with discussions on issues related to technological sovereignty, with sessions such as Inside Apertus – Engineering a Sovereign Foundation Model, and Switzerland's strategic role in the global race for high-performance computing, through the debate Money, Chips, Energy: Switzerland at the crossroads, bringing together experts in high-performance computing and energy policy.

The rest of the program will be organized around complementary themes, illustrating topics such as:

AI, the economy, and governance

  • Assessing the Disruption by AI Agents: economic, legal, and security impacts of autonomous agents, between productivity gains, new risks, and responsibility.
  • Europe in the Age of AI: Dead or Alive? A strategic debate on European competitiveness, regulation, and sovereignty in a tense geopolitical context.

The sovereignty of innovation

  • Swiss AI Initiative – Foundations of a National AI Innovation Ecosystem: presentation of flagship projects aimed at structuring a national ecosystem around fundamental models and next-generation AI infrastructures.

Creating value with AI in production

  • Generating value, not just text: concrete feedback showing how companies are transforming AI into measurable impact (industry, transportation, operational optimization).
  • How to measure the ROI and impact of AI models in production: introduction to causal inference approaches for effectively evaluating the business impact of AI models.

Safety & Ethics

  • Development of on-premise LLM applications, RAG, and early AI agents without dependence on external APIs.
  • Secure and ethical AI in biomedicine, in the face of regulatory constraints and the protection of sensitive data.
  • Designing responsible AI tools for education, with educational chatbots based on LLMs.
